Bio
I am a Research Assistant, MSc student at the Biomedical Science Research and Training Center (BioRTC), Yobe State University, Nigeria, and a Visiting Research Assistant at Sussex Neuroscience, University of Sussex, UK. I obtained my undergraduate training in Biochemistry from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, Nigeria.
At the Maina Lab in BioRTC, my research focuses on understanding how tau mutations drive nucleolar stress and subnuclear remodeling in neuronal models of neurodegeneration, including SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells and induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived brain cells. Using label-free quantitative phase imaging combined with computational and AI-guided image analysis, my work aims to uncover cellular mechanisms underlying tauopathies and to advance quantitative imaging approaches for studying neurodegenerative diseases.
