I am a graduate of Human Physiology from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and a Laboratory Assistant at the Biomedical Research and Training Centre (BioRTC), Yobe State University, Nigeria. I am tasked with assisting researchers in the preparation of laboratory reagents and materials for their projects. I also support the onboarding process, laboratory maintenance and the proper handling of equipment. I handle and routinely update a master inventory of laboratory items and equipments. I also support the procurement of new items, and ensure compliance with material safety data sheets, laboratory safety regulations, and standard operating procedures. In between these tasks, I assist researchers and staff in conducting scientific experiments ranging from nucleic acid extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR, drosophila husbandry and western blotting. It is common to find me collaborating with researchers and scientists in executing laboratory-based activities and data analysis.
