Bio

I am a Senior Research Assistant at the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC), Yobe State University, Nigeria. I have a background in Human Anatomy from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria.

At the BioRTC, I work for the Yoshimatsu Lab, studying the visual system in African Agama lizard model. My research focuses on identifying the types and distribution patterns of photoreceptors in the Agama agama retina, with emphasis on cone subtype enrichment in the fovea. My research interest also involves determining the Agama foveal specialization and retinal circuitry. This involves labeling retinal interneurons, ganglion cells, and synaptic markers to map laminar organization and synaptic stratification in foveal versus peripheral retina. The research uses immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization together with high-resolution imaging to establish the African Agama lizard as a new model of visual research.
