BioRTC Computational Neuroscience Course 2025

Applications Closed

We are excited to announce the upcoming Computational Neuroscience Course 2025, which will take place at the Biomedical Science Research and Training Center (BioRTC), Yobe State University, Damaturu, from 7th July to 18th July 2025. This international course is generously supported by the Simons Foundation and the Yobe State Government.

The course will provide participants with an in-depth exploration of modern computational and systems neuroscience approaches. Training will focus on analyzing publicly available datasets, computational modeling, and simulations using open-source programming languages like Python. Sessions will be structured with morning lectures and afternoon/evening practicals, including hands-on coding assignments and small group projects.

Subsidized accommodation, meals, and travel costs are provided to all attendees. The course will expose participants to research projects involving neurobiological data from vertebrates (mainly mice) and invertebrates (mainly Drosophila).

While the application period has now closed, we encourage those interested in future opportunities to stay connected with BioRTC. The course will be followed by remote journal clubs, seminars, and mentoring sessions to foster an active computational neuroscience community.

Please give a precise answer as this will help us prepare the course. A Python bootcamp will be available before the course for any students needing extra background.
Why do you want to attend this course? Detail how the course will be relevant to your current and future interests and plans. Briefly specify a project that would be exciting to you. This is a very important component of your application. We thus discourage the use of large language models to produce uniform, nonspecific text. Show us how you are uniquely motivated for the course in your own words.
