Science Festival at Yobe University

As the founder of TReND's Outreach Programme, Dr. Maina organised a science festival with Yobe State University as the host, leading to the initial contact between Dr Maina and the University on establishing BioRTC.

February, 2020

Faculty Position at Yobe

Dr. Maina accepted a visiting faculty position at Yobe State University to officially commence the process of establishing BioRTC.

October, 2020

MOU between Yobe State University & TReND

Dr Maina initiated a Memorandum of Understanding between Yobe State University and TReND in Africa to enable TReND to partner in establishing BioRTC, making it the first fixed TReND affiliated lab in the African continent.

August, 2021

Lab Launched

Lab Launched! A two-day symposium was organized to launch BioRTC.

Chan Zuckerberg Grant Awarded

Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Grant awarded to expand access to bioimaging in West Africa

Summer Course and Workshops

BioRTC started a series of summer schools and workshops designed to provide African scientists with advanced training in bioimaging, open science practices, and a variety of laboratory techniques essential for cutting-edge biomedical research

Open to Students & Scientists

As an open-access core facility, BioRTC opened for lab visits for students and scientists interested in conducting laboratory work or placement.
