BioRTC Sponsors International Training for Research Assistant, Mubarak IsmailAs part of its mission to strengthen Africa’s biomedical research capacity, the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC) is proud to announce that Mubarak Ismail, one of its Research Assistants, is currently undergoing advanced training in the United Kingdom. This BioRTC-sponsored training program is equipping Mubarak with hands-on expertise in tissue culture, induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) culture, live-cell imaging, image analysis, qPCR, and other aspects of RNA biology. These skills are central to BioRTC’s growing portfolio of research, particularly in neurodegeneration, genomics, infectious diseases, and molecular biology.Investing in Local Talent for Global ImpactAt BioRTC, we believe that capacity building begins with people. Mubarak’s training is part of a broader strategy to empower young African scientists with the skills needed to compete globally while addressing health challenges specific to the continent.By investing in international exposure and cutting-edge technical expertise, BioRTC ensures that returning trainees like Mubarak can directly strengthen our research teams, expand local expertise, and train future generations of scientists in Nigeria. This cascading model of knowledge transfer is at the heart of our vision to build sustainable, world-class research infrastructure in Africa.Strengthening Africa’s Scientific FootprintMubarak’s training also reflects BioRTC’s commitment to: • Driving excellence in neuroscience and molecular biology research, especially on diseases like dementia that are underexplored in African populations. • Expanding genomics and imaging expertise to provide African researchers with tools to investigate health problems of local and global relevance. • Bridging the gap between global science and local needs, ensuring discoveries are translated into meaningful healthcare solutions for African communities.Looking AheadUpon completion of his training, Mubarak will return to Nigeria to: • Support ongoing research projects at BioRTC. • Transfer knowledge by training local researchers and junior staff in advanced laboratory techniques. • Expand BioRTC’s technical capacity to conduct innovative, Africa-relevant biomedical research. His journey is a testament to BioRTC’s belief that investing in people is the surest way to advance science in Africa.✨ The entire BioRTC community congratulates Mubarak on this milestone and looks forward to the impact of his new expertise on our collective mission.⸻🔗 Stay connected with BioRTC as we continue to train, equip, and empower the next generation of African scientists.#BioRTC #CapacityBuilding #SponsoredTraining #ScienceForAfrica #Neuroscience #MolecularBiology #RNAResearch #iPSC
