BioRTC and ABU Zaria Forge a Collaborative Path for Research and Innovation

On November 10, 2023, BioRTC and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This MOU marks a commitment to bolster research and innovation within Nigeria’s biomedical science landscape. The partnership brings together ABU Zaria’s rich academic heritage with BioRTC’s advanced capabilities, including our two confocal microscopes (Zeiss LSM 700 and Zeiss LSM 780), Li-Cor Odyssey imager, tissue culture facilities, diagnostic and open science stations, to set a new standard in research excellence.

Under this MOU, which is set for a five-year term with an option to renew, both institutions have agreed to share resources, expertise, and facilities. One of the key highlights of this agreement is the opportunity for joint supervision of students, bridging the expertise of principal investigators from BioRTC based not only in Nigeria but also in the UK, USA, and France with those from ABU Zaria.

Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina, founder of BioRTC, expressed through Lab Manager Kundi Umar: “I am truly excited about the partnership between BioRTC and ABU Zaria. It represents a major boost not just for our  institutions but also for the broader spheres of Yobe State University, Yobe State and Nigeria. This collaboration is poised to foster innovative breakthroughs and collective advancement.”

This partnership will enable BioRTC and ABU Zaria to embark on joint research projects, academic exchange programs, and collaborative resource development. The agreement details clear terms for cooperation, confidentiality, and resolution of any disputes, ensuring a smooth collaborative effort. Together, we are excited to drive forward the pursuit of knowledge and the development of groundbreaking solutions in biomedical science at Yobe State University, ABU Zaria, and throughout Nigeria.
